Everything Wrong With Your Insta Stories

Today’s topic may be a bit of a trigger, but I’m here to tell the blatant truth about why your Insta Stories suck. You see, I’m not exempt from this category of sucky Insta Stories; trust me, I have recently been delivered.

We’ve all fell victim to the Insta Story that leaves you tapping your entire way through. Most of the time, they are the ones that involve singing along to an overplayed song or a shaky handheld view leaving you to see absolutely nothing at all. It’s about time we put an end to the nonsense and identify what we have all be doing wrong.

1. You’re Not a Story Teller

This is the number one mistake I see on Instagram. Plain and simple. You fail to tell an actual story. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there is no cohesiveness to your stories. Instead of random posts here and there that do nothing for your audience, walk us through your day to day or an activity you are participating in. We tend to overcomplicate super simple tasks but they call Instagram stories “stories” for a reason.

2. You Don’t Have Much Diversity

You’re obsessed with your pet, but we don’t need to see every angle of his or her cute face. Let’s spice it up and add some diversity! The key to a great story is a beginning, middle, and end. It’s okay to post something random every now and again, but repetitiveness isn’t going to make your followers watch more. Think about the million and one things that are happening throughout your day and share those interesting bits of your life.

3. Your viewer experience isn’t interactive

Algorithm, Algorithm, Algorithm. That word is a word that people dread to hear. We are all tired of the ever-changing Instagram Algorithm and it’s safe to say that the best way to combat that is by using stories. Have you ever wondered why your viewer count keeps declining when you look at the insights? It’s probably because you aren’t interacting with your followers. With all the cool new features like emoji slider polls, music, and gifs, you can never go wrong. These tools are a great step towards making your followers feel like they are involved in your day.
